In Washington, D.C., Shaw’s Tavern veteran John Cochran is now cheffing at Big Bear Café. Former Sou’Wester Chef de Cuisine Eddie Moran is now at Mediterranean-American Station 4. Chris Ferrier (Boar’s Head Inn) has taken the executive chef position at 2100 Prime inside The Fairfax at Embassy Row. The PORC food truck guys opened Kangaroo Boxing Club. There are also new locations of Luke’s Lobster, Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, Nando’s Peri-Peri, and Bar Louie. The HR-57 space is becoming the Southern-minded Fever Bar and Lounge. José Andrés will move Minibar into the recently vacated Zola Wine & Kitchen space while he figures out what to do with the concept next. It’s a bloodbath in the closings department. Current Sushi and Buddha Bar have already shuttered and America Eats Tavern, Capital Q BBQ, Potenza, and Zola are all planning to close in the coming weeks.
In Philadelphia, Terence Feury will bid Fork farewell at the end of July to open Tavro 13 in Swedesboro, NJ. Artisanal pie shop Magpie and the Asian-focused Spice 28 both open next month. Tea Shake Fusion has closed.
In Boston, Papagayo‘s Chris Damian opens Avery next week in the former Bina Alimentari space.
In Nantucket, Kathy Sidell will open MET on Main tonight; the menu includes tartare, pancakes, soft-serve, and, of course, a take-out menu for beach picnics.
