Plate’s Chef Shuffles for the Week of May 4

Paul Joseph (Le Rendez Vous) scored the executive chef gig at FireBirdDevi quietly reopened with Dheeraj Tomar heading up the kitchen, and Reynards started dishing up locavore cuisine in the Wythe Hotel.

Richard Sandoval will team up with Chef-Owner Jaime Pesaque (Mayta Restaurante Bar) to open the Peruvian eatery and pisco bar Raymi this June. The Wilfie & Nell team is taking over the old Ship of Fools space to open a restaurant called The Penrose this summer. Sons of Essex Owner Matt Levine will open Cocktail Bodega this year, specializing in booze-spiked smoothies and street food. The Couleur Café gang will head to the old Ozzies space to roll out French-Hungarian concept Café Des AmisAngelo Sosa (Social Eatz) is looking to open a new restaurant called Juxtapose; no opening date or location has been set yet.

Mary Queen of Scots and RBC NYC closed, and The Meatball Factory is closed, reportedly for renovations. We’re sorry to report that Times Square hot dog icon Fred Hakim has passed away.
